Nineteen of Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Medvedev claimed his maiden championship for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open final.

The athlete, a former number one, has experienced a torrid season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a setback at the American major.

The player's unpredictability on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - resulted in him falling of the elite rankings and eventually splitting with former trainer Cervara.

Now working with his coach and his other coach, Medvedev has gradually progressed in the recent weeks - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over Frenchman Moutet.

This represents his first championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from March of 2023.

Success also signifies Medvedev has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one different tournaments.

"For the first time I have attended a event with my two daughters together, so to win a trophy is particularly special," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in honour of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I won when my older daughter my daughter was delivered was for her."

The athlete, the former major winner, had lost his past six finals, featuring in the German tournament in the past months.

The player's defensive approach and regular emotional displays on court had caused observers to doubt if his capacity to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, attempting to advance forward and play positively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a disadvantage in the opening set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

Both players swapped break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden ATP Tour championship, took control to create a decider.

He defended 4 initial chances in a tight final set before the Russian broke to that score to close out the victory.

Suitably, the winner earned the title with a shot at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
