Vehicles in German City Discovered Marked with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police Confirm

Authorities mentioned they were alerted by a man who discovered a automobile in Hanau covered with red-colored substance

Approximately fifty cars have been covered with what appears to be blood from a person in the German town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, according to authorities.

Vehicles, building surfaces and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.

Officers state they were alerted in the late hours on Wednesday evening, when a man noticed that a automobile in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored substance.

The liquid had been drawn in the shape of a Nazi symbol, they reported.

Police then found many other smeared cars and residential walls in the surrounding area.

These symbols are illegal in Germany under legislation outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.

Law enforcement report initial examinations suggest the substance was most likely human blood.

"Currently there is no lead as to its origin; investigators are not yet informed of any physical harm in association with the incident," they commented.

Municipal representatives stated they were attempting "to unravel the case" and have appealed to the community for details.

A high-ranking official commented the incident rendered him speechless and had to be resolved quickly.

"This incident affects the very heart of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing attack half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman focusing on residents of foreign heritage in five years prior.
